Sudoku is a puzzle game and to be more specific it is a "placement" puzzle game. The most frequent layout of a Sudoku puzzle is a 9x9 grid that it is made of 3x3 sub grids that are referred to as "regions". So a Sudoku puzzle has 81 grid cells and 9 regions as you can see bellow:
In each grid cell you can put a number from 1 to 9. As you can see there are already some numbers in the puzzle. These are the "givens". The more givens the easier the puzzle. Every row, every column and every region may contain only one instance of each number. You complete the puzzle when you have filled all the grid with the correct numbers. To complete a Sudoku puzzle you will need a lot of patience and the ability to think logical. Having fun is a must!
